Recognize, Report, Refuse

Hello Newcastle Parents and Teachers,
October is National Bullying Prevention Month, and this year I will be going into every classroom to teach students how to recognize, refuse, and report bullying behavior with the Second Step Bullying Prevention Unit.  This requires us to think about the difference between teasing, conflict, and bullying, and there is often confusion between the three as they can look very similar.  The more students, staff, and parents can be informed and caring bystanders, the safer our community will be for all students.  If you would like resources to use in your classroom or at home to supplement my lessons, here is a great website sponsored by Committee for Children – the superhero theme makes it engaging for kids and adults alike  :)
